I’m back for round 2 woohoo! The Lord is so gracious and kind to give me another opportunity to spend a summer with the World Race this upcoming June. As some of you may know, I spent the summer of 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand, and it was during that summer that the Lord wrecked my heart for the nations and stirred my heart for the Gospel in a way that led to full surrender to Christ and freedom in Him.
This summer, I have the honor and privilege of leading a group of girls (alongside my incredible co-leader Jessa!!) in Medellin, Colombia. I am so excited to walk alongside them, listen to their stories, and watch the Lord work in their hearts, just as He did in mine two years ago. I am so thankful that we have a Father who does not call us to be effective leaders, but One who simply calls us to be obedient. It is my absolute joy to walk in obedience to a loving God who went to great lengths to pursue and change my heart!
I believe deeply in a personal God who loves you. A Father who sent His son Jesus to Earth to change everything. Jesus lived a perfect and sinless life, a life that we will never be able to attain. He then died a horrific death on the cross, the death that we deserved but didn’t receive. And then He rose from the grave, ultimately defeating death so that we may be united with the Father if we trust in Him. Through our surrender to Jesus, we are set free and are adopted into His family. Our hearts are changed and refined and we grow to reflect the character of Jesus. We become beloved children of the God of the universe and are invited into something so much bigger than ourselves. This is the simple Gospel – a picture of radical love from a gracious Father. I am banking my whole life on this Truth – this is the very reason I have said “yes” to spending my summer in Colombia.
During our time in Medellin, we will be serving with a ministry called Ciudad Refugio, a Gospel centered organization that “is committed to the restoration of vulnerable, at-risk populations, offering emergency humanitarian assistance and holistic programming to individuals in need.” For more information about their programs and mission, check out their website here: http://ciudadrefugio.org/ !
I am so thankful for a God that invites His children into Kingdom work around the world! It is my greatest joy to see hearts and lives restored by the power of the Gospel!
